2016-07-17 Week

#1 ◱ Google Earth updated the view of our property on May 29, 2016. We look busy.

#2 ◱ We got 100 tons of "3/4 minus" gravel this week.

#3 ◱ We hosted a day of "Primary Day Camp" for Joseph's ward. The boys went for the pool noodles right away.

#4 ◱ We ended up with both sets of tables being covered with activities and food prep. More leaders are just off camera, but it will be covered in a few minutes.

#5 ◱ Noodle Wars

#6 ◱ It sure is colorful and active when noodle wars are happening.

#7 ◱ What is it? (A skull, obviously, but of what?) We have suggestions ranging from cat (I don't think so; look at the size of that tooth) to juvenile bobcat or mountain lion. In the end it was deemed a large domestic cat. The skull isn't really that big, it just looks it in this picture.

#8 ◱ Joseph shares an apple with our neigh-bor.

#9 ◱ Joseph shares an apple with Ellie. Lois calls her Aggressa, as she is a major Alpha female. You can see that she has backed another horse into the bushes. These are Peruvian thoroughbreds, and they all have fancy Spanish names. "Lucky" is My Lucky Day in Spanish. The neighbor did walk her stallion down the street this week also. It was the first time I have seen him.

#10 ◱ The first and only Satsuma Plum on the tree. :-) Hopefully next year we will get more than one, but I am still excited for the one.

#11 ◱ One of the Asian Pear trees had a first good crop. I have eaten a couple to see what they tasted like since the deer wanted to eat them. They were still a bit green, but tasted good.

#12 ◱ This is our west parking area before the gravel was dumped.

#13 ◱ Here they are dumping 3/4 minus gravel on top of our existing layer of 1.5 open gravel.

#14 ◱ This is the first pass of gravel onto the western parking area. You can see the old barn just beyond the dump truck.

#15 ◱ Comcast / Xfinity came out to reconnect our house to the Internet. The old part of our house is slated for demolition later this year, but that is where the Internet comes in, so we had them move the cable to the new part of the house.

#16 ◱ Comcast / Xfinity came out to reconnect our house to the Internet. They had to raise the wire stretching across the street so that the gravel dump truck could get out. :-)

#17 ◱ We had quite a bit of trouble with the dumping of the gravel. If it had been a bit more dry it would have poured more evenly. Sigh. We will need to come up with a plan B to get it spread out.

#18 ◱ There is something very satisfying about wielding a sword and attacking invaders.

#22 ◱ Our first tomato of the season. It was delicious.

#25 ◱ We found a cute little bat on a pile of wood on top of our scaffolding. Notice the hooks on the ends of the wings.

#26 ◱ Joseph used the flame thrower to clean up the herb garden. Most of the herbs had died. Now we can keep working and make it nice again.
