Week In Review

#1 ◱ This week I discovered the asparagus growing in the garden. I am not sure when it starts or stops, and not sure how much grows. The past three years we have just let it grow as you are supposed to so that it will develop.

#2 ◱ I have yet to see a deer on our property this year, but I know that they are here since the trees and roses are getting eaten. I have seen them twice on the neighbor's property, though.

#3 ◱ Don decided to remodel his closet to get more in and be better organized. Lois plans on doing more to hers also sometime.

#4 ◱ It was hard work getting the shelf removed since it had the manufactured home screws that are really hard to get out.

#5 ◱ But Don managed to get the shelf and bar out and raise the bar near the top. He is tall and his clothes are long.

#6 ◱ Here is the finished product of his two bar system.

#7 ◱ After having had four extremely tall trees cut down, we now have a lot of tree disks. Since we have to put them someplace Joseph thought it would be a good idea to use them to landscape the horseshoe island. Fortunately we have Goliath to help. He is so good at hauling large loads. Joseph worked for a long time, loading the disks.

#8 ◱ We have had trouble keeping the grass from the rose beds. We think this might help. :-)

#9 ◱ I wonder what each disk weighs. Lois moved a bunch and it was hard on the shoulder muscles.

#10 ◱ Fortunately Joseph is like Superman and was able to get them in place. He and Goliath keep working and make quite a team.

#12 ◱ Joseph would use Goliath to dig next to a pole.

#13 ◱ Then he would go and take the pole out and stack them. It made it so Goliath could get closer to the disks.

#14 ◱ The poles with cement were still heavy to get out and haul off.

#15 ◱ Joseph tried digging around a stump to see if he could get it out.

#16 ◱ It didn't want to move.

#19 ◱ Joseph pushed other piles of branches and stuff around so that our road was a little wider.

#20 ◱ After making a way into the Picnic Area, Joseph took Goliath in there. It is kind of fun to watch this machine in a smaller area. Sometimes you worry that the scorpion back will swing and knock something out.

#21 ◱ I think Goliath felt too much at home as it took down piles of dirt that was left there from the foundation prep.

#22 ◱ The shoveling that Goliath can do in a few seconds is amazing compared to a human being.

#23 ◱ Don is walking back to Rosewold from the mailbox.

#24 ◱ When the missionaries came, Lois asked them if they would line up some disks with the stump. We think that the adults will be able to get to the top now. :-)

#25 ◱ We made quite a bit of progress lining up disks on the island. We still have a lot to do.

#26 ◱ The missionaries came over and helped us take boxes out of Lois's container. Then they put shelves together and put the boxes back.

#27 ◱ One more step in organization done.

#28 ◱ I think the backhoe is leaking.

#29 ◱ They also put together another set for the red shed and put it in there, waiting for Lois to say exactly where before the shelves are put in.

#30 ◱ This is where Goliath can actually get into the backyard. When the new addition is built, Goliath will not be able to go this way.

#31 ◱ Goliath leveled out a bumpy part of the road.

#32 ◱ There will be a gate that is large enough for Goliath to go through when a new fence is installed on the west side of the picnic area.

#33 ◱ Hopefully all these disks will get moved and the area beautified.

#34 ◱ Fence posts that Joseph took out.

#35 ◱ Goliath took more disks away from the house. He tried to take out a stump that has been sitting there a few years. Didn't work.

#36 ◱ Goliath pushed old disks and blackberry vines away from the fire pit. Lois wants to find the bottom of the yellow translucent apple tree that you see there in the jungle.

#37 ◱ So Goliath wasn't able to get the new opening open, but a lot of progress was made.

#38 ◱ 

#39 ◱ Now we need to rake the missing hills to be more level. Part of this will be covered by the new addition. Part should turn into grass.

#40 ◱ Working with blackberry vines is not for wimps.
