Mar 12: Kitchen Demolition

#1 ◱ This is the end result. Now check out how we got there.

#2 ◱ Lois took off the round table when Don wasn't looking. Don knocks out part of the support for the mini-table. Lois previously removed the table top.

#3 ◱ Don removes more paneling from the mini-table. Lois kept hauling the trash away.

#7 ◱ We start removing the paneling from the diagonal wall. Don has a crow bar.

#9 ◱ Voila! The paneling is removed. Lois hunted down some drawers and we tossed a banquet table on top of them. Without the paneling the wall is very open and the whole room feels a lot bigger.

#10 ◱ The new countertop gets colonized by a rice cooker.

#12 ◱ Lois emptied out the cupboard next to the stove.

#13 ◱ Here is a view into the kitchen from the living room. The new countertop has been further colonized by a microwave and a tray of silverware.

#14 ◱ What? I leave the room for a minute and Lois has removed the bottom. Don contemplates further removal activities.

#15 ◱ The shelving between the old front door (to the left) and the dining room (straight ahead) is half-way done being removed. Notice in the background that the fridge has been moved next to the stove.

#16 ◱ Don make an upswing with the sledge hammer to remove the top of the cupboard.

#17 ◱ The top comes off pretty easily.

#18 ◱ The cupboard seems to be in pretty good shape. We re-homed the cupboard over to the diagonal wall where it can provide some food-serving space.
